What is Breathe With Me?
Breathe With Me is a contemplative-practice and breathwork companion app for iOS. It draws from the Narayana Krama sequence and other lineages, offering both breathwork and mantra practices alongside traditional meditation support. The app is currently in Phase 1 beta, designed to be simple and unobtrusive: it suggests a session, plays the audio, tracks your practice streaks, and then gets out of your way.
The app originated with teachings from Mark Levitt and includes a growing catalog of techniques, each with its own audio guidance and "Before you begin" notes for safety.
How does sign-in work? Why a magic link and not a password?
When you open the app, you enter your email address. We send you a one-time sign-in link to your inbox—click it, and you're signed in. No password to create, remember, lose, or have stolen. The trade-off is that you need access to your email inbox at sign-in time. If you don't receive the link within a few minutes, check your spam folder or request a new one from the sign-in screen.
How do streaks work?
A streak counts the days you've practiced. Skipping a day does not reset it — the count holds and picks up where you left off the next time you practice. After about two weeks without a session, the streak is labelled "paused" in the UI so the number doesn't misread as an active arc. Streaks are computed from your actual practice history rather than stored separately, so they're always accurate to what you've actually done. The app uses your device's local timezone to determine what "today" means, so a session completed at 11:45 p.m. counts toward today, not tomorrow.
How is my data stored?
Your practice history and account information are stored locally on your device in an encrypted SQLite database. This data is synced to our backend database (Neon Postgres with Firebase Auth) so you can access your practice history across devices and preserve it if you reinstall the app. We use Google Analytics and Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used, and as we grow we may use advertising and measurement platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and the Google Marketing Platform. We never share the free-text content of your journals or check-in notes with any third party — not analytics, not ads, not crash reports. We don't sell your personal data. See the Privacy Policy for details.
What does Breathe With Me know about me?
The main things: your email address (used only to deliver one-time sign-in links and as your account identifier), the answers from onboarding (so we can suggest sessions that fit your experience and goals), your practice history (which sessions you start or complete, and when), and your daily check-in state — whether you practiced, rested, or skipped, with no free-text content stored. We also collect app-usage and device data through Google Analytics and Firebase Analytics (see "How is my data stored?" above and the Privacy Policy).
We don't collect your location, contacts, photos, or microphone or camera access, and we never share the free-text content of your journals or check-in notes with any third party — not analytics, not ads, not crash reports. We use Google Analytics and Firebase Analytics for product analytics, and we may use advertising and measurement platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and the Google Marketing Platform) as we grow. Sentry is our only crash reporter — a CI check enforces that. We don't sell your personal data. For the full picture, see "What Data We Collect," "Analytics," and "Advertising and Measurement" in the Privacy Policy.
Can I use the app without an internet connection?
Mostly yes. Once you've signed in and loaded a practice session, you can play that session offline—the audio and guidance are stored on your device. Starting and completing sessions is recorded locally and syncs to the backend the next time you're online. The only time you absolutely need an internet connection is for your first sign-in and when you want to load new practices into the app.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, go to Settings → Account actions → Delete account, type DELETE to confirm, and tap Delete. The app records your deletion request on your device and signs you out. The in-app confirmation dialog commits to deleting your account and check-ins within 30 days and sending an email confirmation once it's complete. Breathe With Me is free during Phase 1, so there is no subscription to cancel separately. See "Deleting Your Data" in the Privacy Policy for the full description.
How do I request a copy of my data?
In the app, go to Settings → Account actions → Request a copy of my data and confirm. The app records your request on your device, and the in-app confirmation dialog commits to preparing your history within 30 days. We'll email you the copy when it's ready. See "Deleting Your Data" in the Privacy Policy, which covers data export alongside deletion.
Is this medical advice? Can I use it if I have a health condition?
No—Breathe With Me is not medical, psychiatric, or therapeutic advice, and it is not a substitute for consultation with a qualified healthcare provider. Some of the breathwork techniques in the app include breath retention, body locks (bandhas), and other patterns that have real physiological effects. If you are pregnant, have a cardiovascular or respiratory condition, a history of seizures, epilepsy, or any other medical condition, consult your physician before beginning any practice. Always practice in a safe environment: never while driving, in water, or anywhere that lightheadedness or dizziness could be dangerous.
Why are some sessions tagged "advanced" or "not advised during pregnancy"?
Several practices in the lineage include breath retention or body locks (bandhas) that create intense sensations or affect blood pressure and oxygenation. These are flagged as "advanced" or with specific cautions in the "Before you begin" notes attached to each technique. If a practice is not advised during pregnancy or for certain conditions, that note will be visible when you open the practice detail. When in doubt, choose a gentler practice, or consult a qualified teacher in the lineage.
Where does the content come from? Who teaches these practices?
The practices in Breathe With Me are drawn from the lineage that Mark Levitt teaches, including the Narayana Krama sequence and the Gokulacandra lineage. Each technique credits its teachers and traditions in the practice detail page. The app is a tool for exploring these practices, but it does not replace the guidance of a qualified teacher or a direct teacher-student relationship. If you're interested in going deeper, we encourage you to seek out live instruction.
Where can I send feedback or report a bug?
We'd love to hear from you. Email hello@breathewithme.app with any feedback, feature requests, or bug reports. During Phase 1 beta, reports that include steps to reproduce a problem are especially helpful and will help us make the app better.
